Cookie Policy
Last updated June 27, 2026
This policy explains how OpenVisio uses cookies and similar technologies such as local storage. We keep this minimal: essential storage to run the app, and optional analytics you control.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. “Similar technologies” include browser local storage, which OpenVisio uses to remember your session and preferences directly in your browser. We refer to all of these as “cookies” below.
2. How we use them
Strictly necessary
These are required for the app to function and cannot be switched off. They include your authentication token (to keep you signed in), your theme preference, and your cookie-consent choice itself.
openvisio:account, authentication token — keep you signed in.openvisio:theme— remember light/dark mode.openvisio:cookie-consent— remember your choice on this banner.
Analytics (optional)
With your consent, we measure anonymous usage — event names and counts only, never your code, paths, or questions — to understand which features are used so we can improve OpenVisio. This is off until you accept the banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy.
When enabled, we load Google Tag Manager, which in turn runs Google Analytics. These set their own cookies (for example _ga and _ga_*) to count visits and sessions. Google Tag Manager does not load and sets no cookies until you accept.
openvisio:analytics_optout— records that you declined analytics._ga,_ga_*(Google Analytics, via Tag Manager) — distinguish anonymous visitors and sessions.
3. Third-party cookies
When you subscribe, our payment provider Stripe may set cookies needed to process the transaction securely and prevent fraud. These are governed by Stripe’s own privacy and cookie policies.
4. Managing your choices
When you first visit, we ask whether to enable optional analytics cookies. You can change your decision any time in Settings → Privacy. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though doing so may sign you out or reset your preferences.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our use of cookies evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
